The History of BitsNBots.

Why This Blog Exists

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about tech, cars, shooting sports, and just learning cool new things. Whether it was watching Top Gear as a kid, winning a national trap shooting championship (a fact my friends love to remind people of), or diving into the world of open-source software, I’ve always loved hands-on experiences and deep conversations about the things that excite me.

Bits & Bolts is my space to share those passions. Whether it's my latest home automation setup, a deep dive into a new open-source tool, an unforgettable night out with nerd friends, or even a restaurant I can't stop thinking about—this blog is where it all comes together.

What You Can Expect

This blog is a mix of structured content and casual storytelling, depending on the topic. Expect posts about:

  • Tech & Open Source – Why i switched to Fedora KDE.
  • Shooting & The Range– My experiences with trap shooting, range days, and new platforms I’m learning (like my recent dive into the AR-15).
  • Cars & Gearhead Moments – A love born from Top Gear and fueled by road trips, dream builds, and hands-on experience.
  • Food & Fun – New restaurants, game nights, and nerdy adventures with friends.
  • Wiz Bits – Short, practical wisdom I've picked up along the way, whether in tech, life, or shooting.

The Name: Bits & Bolts

The name just fits. Bits for the tech side of me—open source, automation, all the geeky things I love to tinker with. Bolts for the mechanical, hands-on side—cars, firearms, and anything else I can take apart and put back together (sometimes successfully).

This is my little corner of the internet, and I’m excited to share it with you.
